Celtic Classic September 09

It's been a busy and successful few months. We played our first Celtic Classic this year on September 26, with
George Fairchild joining us on bodhran and harmonica. We opened the day Saturday on the Tavern in the Glen stage with a set from noon till 12:45. People began filing in after the parade ended and the house was mostly full by the end of our set, which we can say ended with a cheering crowd.

Our second show was at 7 in the Heritage Tent, a smaller venue, but one that we had filled to standing room capacity. Sure, it was a nice place to get out of the rain, but people stayed--and cheered some more. That set finished with the three of us joined by Ellen Tepper (one of the Jameson Sisters) on harp. There are some photos of that set on the photos page.

Previous highlights included a full day at the Sea Girt Irish Festival September 19, and two shows with Terry's
brother Pat as guest members of his West O' Clare band at the Celtic Oyster Festival in August near Reading.

As always, we'll be at Molly Maguire's for a session the first Sunday of each month (3-7 p.m.).

Ireland Tour

I just returned from 10 days in Ireland. 5 days were spent on my own in Baile Mhuirne and An Spideal working on my Irish (Gaelic) speaking and singing. The last 5 days I spent on Trad Tours playing music with Fintan Malone. Most memmorable were three sessions, one at "The Crane" in Galway, another at "The Marketplace" in Miltown Malbay, and the last was in "O'Donaghue's" in Dublin. All three are well known for supporting traditional Irish music.
